When you think you're standing still, your body is always making tiny adjustments to stay upright. These small, natural movements are called sway.
At Gait & Motion Analysis Lab, we use AMTI force plates - the gold standard for balance performance analysis. These platforms measure forces exerted by your body, capturing details unnoticed in visual exams.
Key parameters include:
- Sway area: The area covered by your shifting weight. Larger areas indicate instability.
- COP Path Length: Total distance traveled by the center of pressure. Smaller = better stability.
- Sway Velocity: Speed of balance corrections. Too low may indicate poor postural control.
- Sway Index: Average deviation from center of pressure. Higher = poorer stability.
- Directional Stability: Ability to move in different directions without falling.
Unlike traditional assessments, our computerized system is objective, data-driven and precise.
